The Leaning Tower Of Pisa

The leaning Tower of Pisa is the most famous monument of the Tuscan town and one of the symbols of Italy.

The tower called "leaning" for his visible slope, is actually the bell tower of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta which is next: inside itr, you can admire the 7 bells ring in celebration of the mass in the Cathedral.

The construction of the Leaning Tower began in 1173: when the engineers arrived at half of the third floor, the work was interrupted, because the base was failing due to the clay soil composition. The leaning Tower of Pisa was completed only in the middle of 1300 without being able to straighten it. This is why even today the tower has an inclination of more than 4 degrees.

Over the centuries, the Leaning Tower continued to move, so it was restored many times. The latest works to reduce the slope went ahead from 1990 to 2001 and now, according to experts, the tower will not move for the next three centuries, allowing safe access to visitors.

In fact, one of the highlights of the leaning Tower of Pisa is that you can climb to the top and enjoy a spectacular panorama that comes from the Leaning Tower to the city limits.
